He is in a foster home with 8 other dogs and loves to play, wrestle, chase and play bitey face, but he can also be a bit of a bully. His play needs to be monitored at all times, as he can get a little rough with dogs who won't tell him to back off. He chases the cats in his foster home. He doesn't seem to want to hurt them but he is very intense and focused on them at all times.
Atticus will need a family who will keep his mind and body busy. He is smart and really wants to please. He could do very well in almost any sport. He can jump up almost 4 feet off the ground from a standing position, flip himself in the air chasing a ball and dogs in his way can either be jumped over or run underneath.
Atticus may be a match for you if:
You have already had border collies, jack russells, or similar high drive, high energy breeds.
You're already into dog sports and are looking for a dog with the drive and energy to regularly train and compete with.
You are very physically active and want a dog that can keep up with you.
You love and look forward to teaching your dog something new on a regular basis.
You want a dog that looks at you with that "What are we doing next?!?!" face every day.
Atticus is not a match for you if:
You are a normal person who wants a normal pet dog to hang out with and occasionally toss a ball or frisbee for.
Your concept of "exercise" is regular walks (even long ones), and maybe an occasional hike on the weekend.
You don't want to spend time each day trying to out-think your dog and making sure their physical and mental need for exercise is met every day - no matter how bad the weather is, how long your work hours are, or how tired you might be.
You don't plan to have some sort of dog class or training or sport be a permanent part of your life.
If you think you've got the time and energy to keep up with this little spitfire, and are looking for a dog with a ton of potential that needs someone to help him learn and grow, please submit an application. :)
Atticus is currently being fostered in Connecticut.
You must have an approved application
on file to be considered for any adoptable dog.
Please submit your application
BEFORE inquiring about a particular dog.
