New England Border Collie Rescue - Helping Border Collies in Need

Charlotte ~ ADOPTED

Yes

Charlotte is a petite (30#) tri-color female border collie who came from a puppy mill/hoarding situation along with 160+ other border collies. Her age is completely unknown but two vets have estimated her to be about 3 years old.

Charlotte is shy in certain situations and will need a patient family to help her to gain confidence in the world and all that is in it.

So far, she has not shown any interest in playing with toys, but she has taken to playing with a plastic water bottle on occasion! She gets along well with most dogs but would prefer not to share bones and food with them. With people, she is generally interested in getting attention. although shows some fear of certain men, we think we have it narrowed down to men with beards. Those she finds quite scary and tries to drive off.

She hasn't been able to decide whether cats are really interesting or really tasty. She seems to be leaning toward the interesting end of the spectrum but she will only be placed in a home with with dog savvy cats.

Due to her history she will not be placed into a home with children.

With her people, once she is comfortable, she likes to be close and follow you around the house and yard. She likes to sleep on the bed next to you or by your feet, if she is allowed, but she is crate trained as well. She is a very sweet gal with so much potential to make the right family complete.

At this time she is on the lower end of energy for border collie but this all could change as her health improves and she becomes more comfortable in her world.

Attendance at an approved positive reinforcement based training class will be required as a condition on her adoption, to help continue her socialization with the world at large, and get her new family started out on the right foot.

Charlotte is being fostered in central Massachusetts.

You must have an approved application on file to be considered for any adoptable dog.
