New England Border Collie Rescue - Helping Border Collies in Need

Want a border collie, but not all the intensity and exercise requirements that usually come along with that? If you are looking for a great companion, Fenix may be the dog for you! Fenix is an approximately 10 year old Border Collie mix. He came into rescue when his owner became injured and was no longer able to take care of him. He is very people oriented and it is obvious that he is used to love and attention.

He lived with other dogs prior to rescue, but as we've gotten to know him more in his time in rescue, it's become clear that at this point in his life Fenix really needs to be an only dog.

The good news is that Fenix will be a wonderful only dog! He absolutely adores people and is a wonderful snuggler. One of his favorite things is rolling onto his back for tummy rubs.

Fenix is not a high energy dog but he does enjoy exploring the yard and going for walks. He likes to meet new people, especially if there are lots of treats involved! He has not been exposed to children while in foster care, but we could evaluate this further is a potential family had children.

There are cats in Fenix's foster home and he is uninterested in them.

A fence is always preferred but individual circumstances will be evaluated. (No invisible fence, please!)

He will be placed with a training requirement and you must have an approved trainer lined up prior to adoption.

He is currently thriving on a raw diet and we would love it his adoptive home would considering continuing him on this diet. Here is some general information: http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/raw-feeding-primer/

Fenix is being fostered in upstate NY. If you think he might be a good fit for you for you, and you have an approved application on file, please contact his foster home and let them know why!

You must have an approved application on file to be considered for any adoptable dog.

Please submit your application BEFORE inquiring about a particular dog.

And don't forget to check out the NEBCR Foster Dog Blog for even more updates on the terrific dogs available for adoption!
