New England Border Collie Rescue - Helping Border Collies in Need

Geno is a 1 1/2yr old Catahoula mix. He is neutered and up to date on all his shots. How did he end up in Border Collie rescue you ask, well by no fault of his own. His family was moving and could not take him with them. We were able to step in and help this handsome fellow out.

Geno loves life and so far he has not met a dog he didn’t want to play with. He can be a little rough when he plays, but he just gets a little over excited. He also loves balls, especially ones that squeak. He will bring the ball back for you to throw or he may just chose to throw it for himself.

Geno is still getting use to being in a crate and is getting better at going in all by himself, he prefers to be with other dogs or people. He is quiet in his crate all night long. Geno will do a little barking at new people but a few treats let him know he has made a new friend.

Did I mention he also loves children? He gets very excited when he is on his walks and sees all the kids playing in the street. Geno will not be placed in a home with small children as he still has no idea how big he is. He would never hurt anyone on purpose but he is very puppy like in his actions.

Geno will also have to be enrolled in an obedience class as part of his adoption. He has learned to sit and give his paw but a class will help both him and his new family bond.

Geno will need a fenced in yard or an area where he can safely play until he has learned a recall. He does come when called most of the time but sometimes his curiosity gets the better of him and he needs to go check things out. If the family has no fenced in yard I will need to know how you will plan on exercising him daily.

Geno loves to play and is still learning how to relax when inside. He will need a family that is active and has the time to spend on him.

Geno has meet 2 of the cats in his foster family and even though he didn’t want to eat them he was very interested in them. He will chase so if his new family has cats they will need to be dog savy and the family will have to work with him being around the cats.

Geno is currently being fostered in CT.
