New England Border Collie Rescue - Helping Border Collies in Need

Hodge is a very shy border collie mix. We don’t know much about his past. He was adopted by a young family from a local shelter. They soon realized that Hodge was very afraid of the world and they did not feel they had the best home for him. Before entering rescue Hodge didn’t let anyone touch him except for his Mom. Since entering foster care he became very attached to his foster Mom but is trying to be very brave and let the other members of the household pet him. He will need a family who will be very patient with him.

Hodge was also said to not like other dogs. So far he is living with 10 other dogs and is always up for a game of chase and wrestling. He is learning to play with toys and really loves playing with balls. He would love a fenced yard where he can run with another canine friend and play.

Check out Hodge in action...

Hodge was a very picky eater when he came in and was switched to a raw diet. He has not missed a meal since. He is also learning to take treats gently and that training can be fun. He walks well on a leash and rarely pulls. He is crate trained and house broken. He is now neutered and up to date on all his shots.

Hodge will do best with another dog in the family. He picks feels braver having another friend around. Because of his shyness he will need a secure fenced in yard to play in. He will also need to attend obedience classes, this will help him continue to learn and bond with his new family.

If you have patience, love and the above requirements you may be his perfect family.

Hodge is being fostered in Connecticut.
