Jax ~ ADOPTED

Yes

PREFERRED

Jax is a fun, high-energy, and delightful young purebred border collie. He's very friendly with people but especially enjoys interactions with men. He has a sweet disposition and he has proven to be very affectionate while in foster care with most people he has met. He has a great, happy attitude especially when he's playing ball!

Jax hasn't been exposed to any formal training, so he will need an adopter dedicated to working with him on a regular basis starting with basic manners by attending positive reinforcement based training classes, as well as giving Jax jobs to do and consistent training at home.

He has shown incredible work ethic when food or treats are involved, but life and the environment are so interesting, so his leash walking skills still need improvement.

While in foster care, he has had the opportunity to see and investigate some sheep and has shown interest in working them, so he could be a good option for an adopter that has a hobby farm or an adopter interested in pursuing herding lessons.

Here's a video of Jax learning about sheep!

Since he finds cats to be a bit too interesting, only homes without cats or those with very dog-savvy felines will be considered. Due to some anxieties that he exhibits with certain types of handling, he is not a candidate for homes with children, so his forever home will be adult-only. Jax does enjoy tugging and that sort of rough and tumble play with his foster mom though!

Jax is being fostered in eastern upstate New York.
