Kohl is a medium size, 4 year old, smoothie (in more ways than one). He likes to play with his Wubba and his other tug toys. For being a young border collie, he is surprisingly calm. He settles well in the house, but can be ready to play or go for a walk in a heartbeat. Kohl is very affectionate and loves to just lay in your lap and be patted or take a nap with you. He does not hog the covers or the bed!!
Kohl loves to play with other dogs and is ok with dog-savvy cats. Kohl knows "sit" and "stay" and he walks nicely on leash. He is very people centered and does not stray far from his human when he is on a long leash. However, a training class will be required to reinforce his skills and to help him bond to his new family. He has had some herding training.

Loud noises do not seem to bother Kohl (in fact an ambulance with its sirens going drove by him today and he didn't even bark). It appears that Kohl's only issue is that he sometimes reacts to strangers by growling and backing away from them. If you ignore him, he will stop and then come up and solicit pats, but we believe that Kohl would do better in a quieter household where there isn't a stream of newcomers going in and out. Kohl will not be placed in a home with young children simply because of the "busyness" factor.
Kohl is crate trained, but he has been left out of his crate and he is not destructive in the house. Kohl is housetrained, microchipped, up to date on his shots and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.
Kohl is being fostered in central New Hampshire.
