New England Border Collie Rescue - Helping Border Collies in Need

Lacy ~ ADOPTED

Yes

N/A

This little sweetheart is Lacy. Lacy was a much loved companion and came into rescue when her owner needed to go into senior housing and could not take Lacy along.

We say "little" because Lacy is on the petite side for a border collie, weighing in just over 30lbs.

And when we say "sweetheart" it's because Lacy really is. She adores her people, although she seems especially partial to women. She is loving, sweet and eager to please. She follows her people around like an adorable little pointy-eared shadow and loves belly rubs and treats.

Lacy is an older gal and does have significant arthritis in her hips. She is currently on the joint supplement Dausequin and it helps her quite a bit. Lacy doesn't let her age or condition slow her down! She's incredibly playful, always ready to run and GO! However because of her arthritis, Lacy needs a home without slippery floors as her go-go-go attitude means that she tends to slip and slide around - which is not good for her hips. Strategically placed area rugs seem to do the trick. As arthritis is degenerative, we are also looking for a home for Lacy where going up and down stairs regularly would not be necessary.

Lacy came into rescue with a skin condition on her back end that supposedly began as a flea allergy. Her coat was sparse in this area and the skin was red and inflamed.

Lacy is on Trifexis for flea prevention and does not currently have any fleas. She has also been switched to a grain free diet. Her skin is clearing up nicely and she's doing very well on the food. It will be important that Lacy's new family keep her flea-free and on a grain-free diet to keep her skin and coat in good condition.

Lacy has had a full senior dog veterinary work-up, and aside from the arthritis, she is in excellent overall health.

Lacy gets along well with the other border collie and cats in her foster home. She is reportedly good with children. She has not been exposed to kids while in rescue, but because of her age and arthritis, she will only be placed with older children (10+).

Lacy is very playful, enjoys playing catch and will entertain herself. She also loves to go for rides in the car. All you have to do is reach for her harness and she's ready to GO!

Lacy is being fostered in centeral NH.
