MacKinley ~ ADOPTED

Yes

N/A

People with this name have a deep inner desire for a stable, loving family or community, and a need to work with others and to be appreciated. Well, this also fits for this boy named MacKinley or "Mac" for short. He is a 3 year old neutered male border collie. He has stunning blue eyes, one is merled with green. Mac was rescued by a good Samaritan who then gave him to rescue to place.

Mac is a joy to be around. He will pick up a ball or a toy and gleefully toss it into the air, pounce on it, and toss again! He loves the leather recliner in his foster home and can often be found just lounging around.

Mac is a dream to walk on leash, never leaving your side. He is slightly wary of new surroundings but recovers very quickly and is always willing to go on over to a new person for a pat or to accept a treat.

Mac is technically a white factored red merle as he has a blotch or two of red merling on his ears.

Oh, and did I mention that this boy can sleep through anything! Well, that is because he is deaf. But don't let that scare you. The only difference between a hearing dog and a deaf dog is that they can't hear! They are still quite trainable through the use of hand signals. You can learn more about deaf dogs at www.deafdogs.org

The one thing that's important with a deaf dog is that, since you cannot call them, having them loose in an unfenced area is problematic. Therefore a fenced yard would be preferred for Mac if his family wants him to be able to run and play at home off leash. However, Mac also walks very nicely on leash and does not want to leave his human's side, and doesn't require a ton of exercise, so he would likely be fine in a home without a fence as long as he had a dedicated leash walking owner.

Check out the video below of Mac playing bitey face with his foster sister Blossom and practicing his skills as a lap dog...
