Rigel ~ ADOPTION PENDING

Yes

Hello nice peoples! My name is Rigel (pronounced RYE-gel). I am named after the blue star in the Orion constellation. This is because I am a blue and white border collie. That means that I am actually dark grey and white instead of black and white. I thinks that I am about 2 years old, but I am not really sure. I feels like a puppy because I have so much to learn.

I am one of NEBCR's 'Lucky 7'. Boy! Let me tell you! I sure am lucky! I used to live in this yucky, muddy place and no one ever played with me. I had no peoples of my own. Some nice peoples in Tennessee rescued me from that place and brought me here. I gots all cleaned up and learned about how to live in a house, how to play with toys and how to trust nice people.

I am very gentle and I LOVES to be pet. My foster mom calls me 'Noodle Legs' because I just flop on the floor when I am getting pet and hope to get a nice belly rub. I am still pretty shy when I first meet new peoples. I really do loves peoples but I am working on not being a 'scared-y-dog'. I am also very, very good with other dogs. I would love a home with another playful dog or two. I am a good player and always make sure to play nice. I never wants any trouble and just hate conflict. I am pretty much an 'agree-to-disagree' kind of guy. I don't argue over toys or even food.

So, here is the thing.... my foster family really wants to keep me forever because I am so sweet. Unfortunately, they just can't, so I need to find my forever home. My foster mom and I discussed this and we decided that I need a home that wants a dog to love and take walks with and cuddle with. Do you want a sweet, quite, loyal buddy? If you were my peoples, I would never leave your side.

I need someone that understands that I have a very soft temperament and need only the gentlest of corrections if I do something that you don't like. I am shy when I first meet new peoples but will gradually warm up to them once I see that they are nice. I am not too afraid of loud noises in the house like pots and pans banging and kids running around, but I do not really like the vacuum cleaner. I will just go to my crate until you are finished playing with it.

That brings up something else. I would have to have my own crate to go to if I feel scared and just to be able to hang out in when I want to take a nap. I LOVE my crate. It is my own special place. Even though I have access to a human bed and a couch, I will almost always go to my crate when I need a rest...well, that is unless you invite me on the couch or bed to lay with you. But the crate is where I feel the safest, so my foster mom makes sure that it is always kept open so I can go to it anytime.

Another nice dog to play with?? That would be nice. I have not been tested with kitties, but I don't seem to feel the need to chase and have exhibited absolutely zero prey or herding drive, so we should get along just fine.

If you are looking for a low drive, cuddly boy that will follow you everywhere...if you love to give belly rubs and take walks, maybe we should meet and get to know each other. What do you think?

Rigel is being fostered in western Mass.
