Shelby is a 8 year old rough coat tri color border collie with semi prick ears who loves to play ball! She gets along great with cats, dogs and kids. She can be timid at first, but once she gets to know you, she’s quite the cuddler.
Shelby is house and crate trained, and she walks nicely on leash. She was turned in to rescue because of her tendency to run off when she was outside and because the family did not have time for her.
She is quite thin at 31 lbs., but her foster family is working on putting some weight on her. She had whipworms when she came into rescue, but those have been treated. She will need follow up treatment in 3 weeks. She is also is currently being treated for Lyme with a 30 day course of Doxycycline.
Shelby knows “sit” so far, and her foster family is working on other commands with her. Her recall needs a lot of work as she has gotten used to running off if she is off leash outside. She is not destructive in the house. She hardly ever barks except when she plays ball she does tend to “woo”. She also cries a little bit when everyone leaves for work for the day. It doesn’t last long though. She shows little interest in squeaky toys or playing tug.
She was breaking through an invisible fence in her former home, so she will not be placed in a home that uses an invisible fence.
Shelby is being fostered in NH.
